MOVED.

January 14th, 2008 (12:46 am)

I'm sick of using Jeckalz. Can still remember when Colin asked whether it would be Jeckalz's or Jeckalz' or Jeckalzs' blog. Oh well, i guess the novelty of using this pseudo-name is gone, and i'll be reverting back to boring old http://chongwoonjeck.blogspot.com

Visit me often!

NJC Orientation 2008

January 12th, 2008 (01:47 am)
tired

current mood: tired

FUN! Yet tiring... Today (or rather, yesterday) was war games and dance night. Even though it rained and the dance had to be held at the hall, i felt that the atmosphere was better than if it had been held at the parade square. So i was joined by the touch rug girls on the stage when Upside Down started playing, and we thought we would be the only ones dancing this mass dance, when half the hall (well, at least the front half) started to learn the steps from us! WOW! By the 3rd time the same song was played (about 3 hours later) most of the j1s nearer to the stage could do the steps rather fluently. I must applaud these people, the never dying spirit for mass dancing.

GO NJC!

More to come soon, for i'm tired from too much dance. xD

current song: Happy Working Song - Amy Adams

That basically sums up my day.

Woke up really early today, intending to go to Henry Park Primary School to apply for Relief Teaching there. After entering the office for 6 minutes and saying hi to Ming Yan, i stated my intention, and was immediately handed a timetable saying that i had to relief teach today for 6 periods. I was totally stunned, unprepared with no form of writing materials and armed only with my wallet, handphone, bankbook and O level equivalent. So i trooped down to the staff room to get an english textbook, said hi to a few of my primary school teachers. And then proceeded to the hall, in which i got stunned again.

As i entered the hall, i was greeted by the principal saying "and i will not hesitate to use caning..." OMGWTFBBQ! Seems like i had just got out of a prison after the As, only to enter another one. So i took a seat behind my relief class and proceeded to watch March Of The Penguins, which was pretty lame, considering that the principal was using it to teach the students about the growth of the chick and comparing it to the journey of studying. Everytime he stopped talking, he would do a Darth Vader, deep-breathing into the microphone, really loudly! lol! So after assembly, i had only 5 minutes with the form class, before following the following timetable:

07:25 - English (4H)
07:55 - English (4H)
08:25 - Phys Ed (6C)
08:55 - Science (5C)
09:25 - break
09:55 - English (4H)
10:25 - English (4H)
10:55 - English (4G)
11:25 - English (4G)

Ok, the break shouldn't be there, cause 5C's teacher didn't come at 9:25, so i had to continue relieving the class even after the lesson was over... Oh, and a student made an appointment with me on bootes tonight! Haha, he kept asking me throughout the lesson wad level, job, where i train and stuff like that. And the PE class was really crappy, cause the teacher before me (aka. the discipline mistress) took half of my period, so i only had 15 minutes to do PE, in which i decided to discuss with the students about nutrition and games they like to play. Then they were damn quiet lar! Possibly still in shock after being taught by the DM first thing in the morning. Haha!

So after that, i had 4 back to back lessons of English, something which i'm unprepared for. So after a quick discussion on their New Year Resolutions, i assigned a homework, asking the students to write a journal entry about their New Year Resolutions. I mean, how long could that take? A one-hour lesson dedicated to talking about New Year Resolutions... How boring... So in the end, i played a few rounds of hangman with the students and FINALLY, i was saved by the bell.

Had lunch with Mingyan and Mrs Idil, then went home.

But then i decided to sign up for Relief Teaching at Zhenghua Sec too, since it's right next to my house anyway. So here i am, now with practically 3 jobs... I'm so dead...

Job Hazards

December 27th, 2007 (07:03 pm)

I simply hate it when:

1) Customers push the door when the sign says "PULL".
2) Customers under 55 ask me for SENIOR CITIZENS BONUS forms.
3) Customers over 55 ask me to fill the abovementioned forms for them.
4) Customers walk in, take a seat, put a dollar on the counter, then stare at me... as if i know what to do.
5) Malay counter colleagues who try to speak Chinese... and think they're good at it.
6) Chinese counter colleagues who speak Chinese, so that Malay customers won't know what we're saying.
